We offer a variety of classes for all ages, levels and interests.  Progression through any of these dance styles is determined not by how many years the student has danced, but by our staff's evaluation of each individual student's abilities and attitude.

BALLET
TAP
HIP HOP/JAZZ
SWING




-- Creative Dance:  Specifically designed for youngsters three, four and five years old.  These classes give initial exposure to rhythm, music and coordination.  The children learn to work with a group, to take turns and to listen attentively to instructions.  Students attend class once a week.

-- Ballet for 1st and 2nd graders:  This training introducessix, seven and eight year old children to ballet while staying within the limits of the immature anatomy.  The goals are to improve coordination, strength, quickness of mind and self-confidence.  The students develop a feeling formovement and an awareness of their bodies.  THese classes will create a sound, strong foundation on which to build future training in classical ballet technique.  Students attend calss once a week.

-- Boys Ballet:  A special class just for boys between the ages of five and nine.  This boys only class introduces boys to the art of ballet without the distraction of girls in the class.  The boys learn the same French vocabulary and classical ballet techneique as the firls.  The boys advance to regular mixed classes usually at grade 4 or 5.  Students attend class once a week.

-- Ballet III, IV, V & VI:  Training in classical ballet technique is given at each of these levels.  Classes progress through increasingly difficult barre work, center work, jumps, turns and combinations.  Ballet III through VI students attend two classes weekly.

-- Intermediate and Advanced:  Training is on more advanced steps and using head and arms and legs together with greater ease and fluidity.  The correct French terminology is stressed sot he dancer can danve with confidence wherever they may go.  Intermediate and Advanced students attend classes 3 times a week.

-- Pointe Class:  Great care is taken when choosing students to be permitted to work in Pointe shoes.  Consideration is given to age, strength and technique.

-- Adult Ballet:  Classes are designed to enhance the general physical condition of the student, with emphasis placed on imporving posture, muscle tone, flexibility and stamina.
BALLET


-- Beginning Tap I, II and III:  Students will work on a series of graded tap techniques.  All students will complete one graded level of technique at years end.

Intermediate I, II:  Students will continue more advanced work on tap technique up to level 4.  Students will master one level at years end.

Advanced I, II and accelerated Advanced:  These experenced students will work on tap technique levels of 5 through 6 and above with a completion in one graded level of tap tehcnique at years end.
TAP
 HOP/JAZZ

-- Beginning: Students learn to count music and find the beat.  Basic steps and combinations are introduced.  Work is begun on technique.

-- Intermediate:  This class is a continuation of the basics learned in the beginning classes.  Students develop the basic steps and combinations.  More advanced choreography and technique are introduced.

-- Advanced: Students are doing extensive work in style and combinations.  Work is done on speeding up steps and combinations.  Style and character are studied.

 
HIP


-- Beginning Swing:  We currently offer a beginning swing class for ages 13 and above.  The class meets once a week to learn basic swing steps and movements.

--Swing II:  An advanced swing class for those who have learned the basic swing movements.
SWING
Dress Code
 CODE

Evergreen Dance Center has a dress code for each of its dance disciplines.  Having the students dressed uniformly helps the teacher focus on the dancer.  It is also good for the students, putting everyone on the same foot when starting class.

BALLET:
        Women and Girls:  pink ballet shoes and pink tights, leotard color dependent on class.  All Preschool classes through age 5 wear pink leotards.  Ballet 1 and 2 wear purple leotards.  Ballet III and IV wear burgandy or black leotards.  Ballet V and VI wear hunter green or black leotards. All other ballet classes may wear any solid color leotard. Hair must be in a bun if it is long enough.  Ages 3-7 may wear ballet skirts.  Pink or black legwarmers and "ballet" sweaters may be worn.  NO wild warmups.
        Men and Boys:  black tights, leggings or sweatpants.  White T-shirt.  Black ballet slippers with white socks.


TAP, JAZZ, HIP HOP:
        All Students:  Black ballet shoes or Jazz oxfords for Jazz.  Black tap shoes for tap.
        Women and Girls:  Black bike shorts or leggings and Evergreen T-shirt.  Black or nude tights.  Black dance pants and Evergreen T-shirt for Hip Hop.  Hair must be in a ponytail if it is long enough.
        Men and boys:  Loose black shorts or sweatpants.  Evergreen T-shirt.
        NO jeans or jean shorts.


SWING:
        All Students:  Comfortable jeans and Evergreen T-shirt.
